April 2019 Update: Thoughts on Infusion #4 (Ocrelizumab)

Updated: May 17, 2022

April 22, 2019

I got my fourth infusion at Sunnybrook and I felt many ways receiving the infusion. Though eating vegan has been helping me with my vision, are my infusions really helping me heal the natural way? This was a question I come across during each visit to Sunnybrook. Since the beginning of this year, I have become aware of the many foods that I should be eliminating for my Multiple Sclerosis. I have come across consuming less sugar as I have noticed that my bowel is not the best, having to consume foods with a high intake of sugar. Another limitation I came across was cutting out processed foods as I have researched and observed my mood and my intolerance of walking. This oftentimes gets pretty frustrating for me because I do have difficulty walking, having consumed foods with sugar or processed foods.

I believe that the drug that I am currently taking (Ocrelizumab), is helping me with my physical development however, it scares me to think that I am relying on infusions to be my “fix”. The question I keep coming across is, what if I can heal naturally instead of finding a “fix” through Meerbetriq or even my infusion that I receive every six months? I am not saying I will stop taking my infusions however, this thought has come across my mind quite often as I believe that everyone who has Multiple Sclerosis can reverse this by correcting the foods that they are eating. This may sound very biased however, I wanted to share my thoughts on this because it has been bothering me for a while. Let me know in the comments below of what you guys think or if you disagree with the way that I feel. I would love to hear from you and see your perspective with the effects of diet on a disease.
